Ixtapan de la Sal

During Stacy and Rhonda's visit we managed to relax a bit, and we made it over to Ixtapan de la Sal. Ixtapan is a small town about 45 minutes from our house that has several natural hot springs caused by the volcanic activity in this area. We went to the hot springs at Ixtapan Nuevo, it is a Parque Acuatico. They have the traditional, Turkish style bath houses, and a water park attached, complete with wave pool, water slides, and lazy river. Not a cloud in the sky, and it was hot, hot, hot! And boy did we get some sun. Burned is more like it. We went on a Wednesday, so we practically had the place to ourselves, it was awesome!

Stacy and Ron made a trip down one slide...
...and then another.

This is one of the bathhouses. Each one has water of a different temp, but they are all hot. No, it is not dirty water, the color is caused by all the minerals that come up from the ground. The water wells up from holes in the ground, and you can literlly stand over the upwelling, and it is REALLY hot at that entry point. It was soooo nice.

Ron and Stacy in the lazy River.
More Ron and Stacy, in the wave pool. Gee, were Rhonda and I even there?
