Race has a new playmate!

The big news for this blog is that Race has a new live-in playmate. His name is Brayan, pronounced Brian, (go figure) he is the 3 year-old hijo of our nanny, Lupe (I think that's how you spell it). They will be spending most everyday and night with us. It has only been a couple of days, but it appears that this will work out just fine. The rest of the blog has no rhyme or reason, just more pictures.

Now that we are parents we totally see, but don't understand that, no matter how many toys you buy a child, they like the box that it came in better than the toy itself. Or in this case an empty box of diapers, and an empty water jug. Whatever, it obviously makes him happy.

If you are into flowers this is what 30 pesos (about $2.85 U.S.) will buy you. And I also found out, that for this small investment the day before your wifes birthday, it gets you out of trouble the day of her birthday when you forget to tell her "Feliz Cumpleanos" (happy birthday). DIPSH..!!!!

No real story here, just Race and Dad playing around. This was a silly mood of his, everything he did his tongue was sticking out. Sorry about the snotty nose, my photo software is not with us.

A week or two ago the Quad was dethroned from King of the Toys. I thought the Radio Flyer took over the position, but after "further review" the call has been over-ruled, there is a three-way tie for first: Quad, Radio Flyer, and Excavator. More video tapes are on our shopping list, once we get them we will record him on the Radio Flyer. Race has figured out how to make it go now. However, steering still needs a little fine tuning.

Once we settle down a little it is possible to read a book. This is a new one from Christmas and obviously the novelty has not worn off.

I am sure most of you remember Race's first bath photo, so Dad soaped him up again for a comparison photo. These photos are actually only lacking 4 days from being exactly one year apart, coincidentally.

In Mexico they celebrate the Three Kings (Los Reyes Magos) on January 9, and Los Reyes Magos bring toys to the kids. What a great deal!! Presents at Christmas, then a couple weeks later, the 3 Kings! It is when Joseph, Mary, and Jesus left the Inn in search of a new place to stay, and on on February 2 they find a new place, and we celebrate with tamales. I'm all for that!
Race likes to use the "phone", whether it is a banana, a deck of cards, or in this case an actual play phone. This was a gift from Erika and her mother, or rather, Los Reyes Magos. You should remember Erika from a previous post. This toy also teaches Race that you cannot put a square peg in a round hole......unless you push really hard!!!

WHAT YOU TALKIN' 'BOUT WILLIS ? This has got to be one of the funniest scowls he has given yet. It is usually appearant if Race is unhappy with the way you are governing him. I am pretty sure he was displeased here.

Here is Race with his new amigo, Brayan. They are getting along perfectly, we are reminding Race everyday that he he does, in fact possess sharing skills. He doesn't care to use them without a reminder, but he does have them. Just part of growing up and/or parenting I guess.

This action photo is Race chasing Brayan around the backyard. Race runs as fast as his little legs will take him, which sometimes isn't as fast as his body, then he comes down like a ton of bricks. This time it went off without a hitch. Did I mention that his outside voice is used quite often, especially when chasing or being chased ?

Okay, th th th th th th That's all folks !! Hasta Luego.

Christmas 2007

Hooray!!!! Back in the U.S.A.!!! Well, four months without standing US soil was plenty. Christmas was a well needed break from our daily grind. And what better way to spend it than in sunny Forida. The weather was gorgeous, sunny and 80 everyday.

Race even agrees that it is good to back in the US.

Race is quite the little explorer, it took all of 20 seconds to find grandpa's keyboard. And once it's found it is mine,RIGHT?

Alright, Christmas Day. And Santa found us!! As you all remember last Christmas Race wasn't in the mood, or place to be opening too many presents. But this year he's fired up, wound up, ready to open ALL of his presents, until the first one was a box of balls. Well, needless to say WE HAVE NEW BALLS!!!! So what if there is more to open, what more do I need than balls?

Even though his vocabulry is increasing there seems to be some confusion between hat and shoes. Maybe it's the translation, sombrero.....zapato..,whatever!

We did obviously get Race to open the rest of his presents. This one is the last one for Christmas 2007. Thanks Santa(s).

This we think was the highlight of the trip for Race, golf carts (a.k.a.bbbmm bbbbmmm) as far as the eye can see! He absolutely loves anything with a motor, what more could his daddy ask for? As you can see pretending to drive is almost as good as driving.....for now.

One of the newest "words", or expressions I guess, is wow. We learned that one the airplane but it gets used for anything that excites him, in this case it was birds. Grandpa taught him "bird" and it actually starts with B but after that it's anybodys guess. And rabbits are dogs according to Race.

We spent a few hours at the water park, where Race was having a good time, until he rubbed sunblock into his eyes. Even though his eyes were bothering him he really tried to have fun. Poor little guy.

We did manage to have in the water without incident. This was a squeely good time, rest assured he wanted to be tossed two more times...after my arms wore out, that is.

Okay it's time to say Adios Amigos. We will post again soon.
